1. And as of recent, the UWP version of OneNote also works okay as a desktop app (though I prefer the user interface and extra features of the OneNote 2016 app). Perhaps because it’s not bad in its desktop mode, and perhaps to save money and define focus better, Microsoft has decided that the touch-optimized UWP version of OneNote is the primary.

Moreover, OneNote for Windows 10 app is already pre-installed and ready to use on all editions of Windows 10, but it can also be manually downloaded for free in the Microsoft Store app. OneNote 2016 is the free desktop app which runs on all supported versions of Microsoft Windows and which is part of Office 2019 and Microsoft 365.

How to share a OneNote notebook on PC

1. Open the notebook you want to share, then click 'Share' at the top right corner.

2. Select 'This notebook' from the dropdown menu, then enter the appropriate email address under 'Email invitation.'

3. Set 'Can edit' or 'Can view' permissions as you prefer.

How to share a OneNote notebook on Mac

1. Open the OneNote notebook you want to share.

2. Click 'File.'

3. Hover on 'Share' in the dropdown.
